Alarm Integration with access control
Access control systems could have an added functionality of alarm system integration. In this system the controller operates in conjunction with the alarm panel and users can now arm and/or disarm the alarm system using the same readers normally used for access control, or separate arm/disarm readers. This functionality makes the system much more user friendly as well as foolproof, resulting in fewer false alarms because users are not requires to use a keypad remember a PIN number. Readers can be configured so that a user can be granted access and arm/disarm the alarm system from the access or egress reader, or from any reader located within the secure area. Because each user has a unique ID provided by their access card, the system knows who armed or disarmed the alarm system, and this information can be combined with access control system data in a single report in doors, as can any alarm activity.
Some Advantages:
- Real access control with alarm control and reporting
- Arm and disarm system using access reader or separate reader
- No need to use keypad for alarm control, resulting in fewer false alarms
- Combine alarm system and access system events in one report
- Provides audit trail of who turned on/off alarm system in doors software
